The Spanish pilot has been running satisfactorily since July 2021 and has been attracting the attention of all types of stakeholders ever since.

On 21 January 2022, the official inauguration of the Spanish on-farm pilot was held in the “Cal Ros” Farm located in Muntanyola, Barcelona. The Catalan minister for Climate Change, Food and Rural Agenda, Teresa Jordà, was the official responsible for leading this opening event along with the Chancellor of the University of Vic- Central University of Barcelona, Josep Eladi Baños, the president of the Cooperativa Plana de Vic, Andreu Fabré, the director of BETA Technological Centre, Sergio Ponsá, and the coordinator of the FERTIMANURE project and deputy director of BETA Technological Centre, Laia Llenas.   The minister highlighted the importance of the FERTIMANURE project in the Catalan region given its impact in the farming and agricultural sectors, which are highly intensive in this area. In her own words “this project is expected to lead the way towards more sustainable farming and agricultural sectors, in not only environmental, but also economic and social terms.” The ministry for Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda is directly involved in FERTIMANURE as a vital partner linked to farmers, other administrations and stakeholders, and the society in general, making it possible to multiply the impact of the project in Catalonia and Spain.
